What advise can you give me about my 84 Chevy El Camino?

I just bought an 84 Chevrolet El Camino with a 305 V8 engine. I'm new to this car so i don't know much about it. I would like to learn about my engine. How it's built, how to keep a good maintenance on it, etc. Any good tips, facts or any type of information you can give me i will really appreciate it. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE DUMB COMMENTS !!
