What is cosmology? (I know what it is, but my friend doesn't).?

I want to prove him wrong! He thinks cosmology is "the study of PHYSICS AND THE UNIVERSE AND THE BASIS OF ALL SCIENTIFIC ADVANCES IN PHYSICS". I told him that it's a branch of astronomy and that it's the study of the universe in it's totality.
