Why do I root for the bank robbers in movies?

I just got done watching Takers and I was hoping the bank robbers would get away with it and I notice I do this with all movies with bank robbers, but when I watch slasher flicks I want the criminals to get caught. Does anyone feel like that too or am I just whacked (if any cops out there do you only root for the cops?)
